Frequently Asked Questions

My marketing software handles all of my email functionality, shouldn't they already have everything set up for proper deliverability?

Not necessarily. In fact, based on my experience, not likely. Because of the complexities and limitations around custom domain names and DNS, marketing software providers typically can't access (or support) most of the settings and parameters required for proper email reputation and deliverability success. Not to mention, most shared sending platforms can't satisfy authentication requirements due to infrastructure limitations. But all of these other reasons aside, email is no longer a "set and forget" technology for email marketers. It must be constantly monitored to assure continued deliverability success.

Will you need access to my platform usernames and passwords?

As a general rule, we are against password sharing. During setup of your service, we would typically gain admin access to your various platforms via the use of secondary admin accounts. You would maintain owner control of the platform and have full control over the removal of our access. Please note that we might recommend moving to a specific platform for the purpose of allowing secondary admin access, in addition to other performance and capability differences they may offer.

Does this service require a long-term commitment?

No! We hate long-term contracts as much as you do! We believe in earning your business every month with amazing service. All we ask is that if you do want to cancel, please provide at least 30 days notice.

Once I set my DMARC policy to Quarantine or Reject, will I still need to monitor my DMARC reports on an ongoing basis?

Yes! Senders and authentication statuses can change, sometimes without your knowledge. It's important to continue to monitor to confirm that your approved senders are still fully authenticated. Failing to catch an issue here could lead to a serious reduction in your sender reputation.

If DNS records are completely under my control, how would they change without my knowledge?

With 27 years of working with business owners and employees, I know from first-hand experience that people will always underestimate the importance, and their own understanding, of DNS. Whether it's the DNS provider themselves making some system updates that go sideways, or a web developer focusing solely on DNS edits for web resources while inadvertently trashing email entries, DNS records are deleted or incorrectly edited on a fairly regular basis. And in many cases, you won't know about it until it's too late (your campaign failed to send or everything went to spam, your reputation took a hit from all the bounces, or you're unable to receive any the replies from your customers).

Why might I have to pay a setup fee for this service?

As part of the setup process, we'll need to gain access to all of your cloud platforms and configure various monitoring and reporting tools on our end. Since we're offering this service with only a month-to-month commitment, we're not able to absorb the substantial setup time investment across a longer time frame. If we've recently worked with you on a one-off project, it's possible that we already have the access we need and the setup fee would be waived in this case.
